A World Federalist activist for over two decades, during the 1990s he headed the Campaign for a New United Nations Charter (CNUNC). For most of 1998-2000 he served at the State of the World Forum and the Global Security Institute as chief deputy to former U.S. Senator Alan Cranston, himself a former President of the United World Federalists who strove tirelessly to rid the world of nuclear weapons. In 2001 he ran in the special election to represent mid-city Los Angeles, campaigning to oppose Bush’s Star Wars proposals, etc.
His scholarship and advocacy have focused on defining a progressive foreign policy vision for the post 9/11 world, abolishing nuclear weapons, ending genocide forever, reinventing the United Nations, and articulating an ethic of allegiance to humanity. His articles have been published widely in print and on the web. During much of 2003 and 2004 he served as Issues and Policy Director for the presidential campaign of Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) to define and articulate the campaign’s overall themes and policy content. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Democratic World Federalists and serves as a Writing Fellow with International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, having previously been with Physicians for Social Responsibility.
Among comments about APOCALYPSE NEVER are:
Tad Daley…doesn’t offer the same tired survey of Iran and North Korea and the contemporary nuclear landscape. Instead, he convinces the reader completely that the only possible solution to the threat of nuclear annihilation is the abolition of nuclear weapons. Moreover, he actually charts a course for how we might get from here to there. Mr. Daley is an elegant writer, and his wonderful first book will enable both experts and regular folks to see, breathe, and believe in the dawn of a nuclear weapon-free world.
—Daniel Ellsberg, former State Department and Defense Department official.
Tad Daley takes a penetrating look at the threat President Barack Obama calls ‘the gravest danger to the American people,’ and does so with clarity and integrity. Apocalypse Never accurately assesses that the threat is not just the nuclear weapons held or sought by others but over 5,000 hydrogen bombs we ourselves still hold. Daley details how the failed policies of the past made the nuclear threat worse and how the only real solution is to move steadily towards eliminating the only weapons that can destroy the world. We would be wise to listen.
—Joseph Cirincione, President, The Ploughshares Fund.
We invite you to come hear Tad Daley.
